Simple, yet effective

A friend passed this video along to me. It conveys a strong, but simple message. In my opinion, it's probably the best PSA I've ever seen.

Dustin Hoffman was in Star Wars, right?

I found this very funny parody on Star Wars. It was made by a fan who asked his friend to retell the first 3 movies in her own words after seeing them for the first time.

It's called Star Wars: Retold. I got a really good laugh from it! Take a look at the link...oh, and watch out for "The Stuff." Enjoy!

Blagojevich is TCB...taking care of busniess

Is Rod Blagojevich serious? I have been listening to him speak on Larry King Live tonight...what a joke! Hey Mr. Governor, since you were elected "by the people of Illinois" and are "obligated to the people of Illinois," then why aren't you back in Illinois doing the job you were elected to do?!? But no, instead you are traipsing around New York and talking on every TV show that will have you on. The Illinois State Senate should also impeach you for not doing your darn job! Oh well, you'll be out of a job very soon courtesy of the Illinois State Senate. Bye bye Blagojevich, don't let the door hit you on your way out!

I can't wait to see the criminal trial...to be continued.

Where is the Good Samaritan Act of Latham County when you need it?

This is just wrong...period. A woman in California has received the go ahead from the CA State Supreme Court to sue a good samaritan for saving her from a mangled car after an accident. She claims that the good samaritan treated her like a "rag doll" and caused her to be a paraplegic. That is crazy! She could have been paralyzed because of the accident, not from the good samaritan. Or better yet, should could have died! I can't wait to see how this case plays out. I'm sure it will make it's way all the way up to the US Supreme Court. See the link below for the full story...

Why can't we all reap the benefits?

Customer Service Article

I found this article a few minutes ago about individual complaints that have been made by consumers in regards to poor customer service by major corporations. Rather than these individual consumers contacting the companies directly, they decided to submit their complaints via cyberspace on websites, blogs, etc. It seems that some major corporations are monitoring these sites and have even responded immediately to these complaints in order to improve their image. Specifically, a Comcast customer submitted a complaint on a well known blog and a Comcast technician was out to his home in 24 hours! I can't even count how many times I've had to call Comcast for some reason and I don't get see a technician for at least a week and it's usually between the hours of 8am and 5pm! And I'm sure that everyone has been there before...

So I guess my rant today is that, why don't these corporations just improve their customer service overall so that ALL of their customers can be satisfied rather than a VERY small percentage? Call me crazy, but wouldn't that make sense?

However, since there have been results with this process, I suppose I should follow suit and submit my own complaint...maybe someone from Comcast will read my blog. I'd really like to know why I only have, at most, 7 days to pay my Comcast bill. For instance my most recent bill. I received it on 7/5 and it's due on 7/11...that's 6 days! What's the deal? That bugs me every month. Does anyone know why that is? Please leave me a comment if you have the answer.

To care, or not to care...

Here's an interesting article about why we, as humans, choose to care about something or choose not to care about something. Case in point the recent natural disasters that occurred in Myanmar and China. Much attention and emphasis has been placed on these two terrible problems and rightly so, however, what happened to the genocide that continues on a daily basis in Darfur and other African nations? It seems a little unbalanced to me...

"Spring. Rejuvenation. Rebirth. Everything's blooming. All that crap."

People often ask me why I moved to Boston from Florida...well here's one reason. I think the picture above says it all. I think Spring has arrived...

What a "feet!"

Here is another interesting article that I found today. It talks about how shoes are actually not beneficial for our feet. I have to say that there is probably some validity to this theory since our ancestors did not wear Nike's, Reebok's, or Adidas's. I would like to try this theory out especially since I'm on my feet for 10-14 hours a day while I'm working. However, in my line of work, I don't think that it would be very sanitary to walk around barefoot in a hospital, so I'll have to try it out on my own time. Take a look at this article.

Repeat?

Why is it that Florida seems to always have a problem with elections? If you haven't already heard, the Democratic National Committee does not want to seat the delegates of Florida and Michigan since the leadership of both states decided to move-up the primary dates, which was a huge "no no." So now both the "Obamas" and the "Clintons" are crying "foul" since one side may have an advantage in the delegate counts due to the outcome of this situation. With all of the squabbling amongst the 2 democratic candidates and the political pundits, the real losers in this "dog and pony show" are as usual...the voters! The election process in this country is so ridiculous. See the article below about this problem and what the planned solution might be...millions of mailed ballots. If that is what the solution ends up being, then I have a feeling that the "chad" issue will look like a picnic compared to this potential catastrophe. Stay tuned, this outta be good!

Will Nader ever take a hint?

You would think after 4 previously failed attempts at the presidency that Ralph Nader would take a hint that maybe he's not going to be elected President after a 5th run...I'm not a psychic, so that's just a guess.

Here's an article about his latest "awe inspiring" comments regarding the democratic party.

P.S. Doesn't he look like the uncle your family doesn't talk about? I think he's a bit scary looking.
